Q3/XP under Vista
got Vista yesterday for testing purposes. Same problem as described. No Ingame gamma control and this F**king lags. Every 2 seconds there is a lag in graphics speed, but fps is permanent at 90. I run Q3 on my toshiba laptop 1.5Ghz with cheap AtiXpress200, on XP no problem but vista sucks (for now). I was looking for processes which could cause this lag and i turned off aero of vista and i disabled ever service that is not essentialy needed but nothing helped. So i turned back to XP 
I read that since DirectX10 opengl is beeing emulated, maybee this could be the reason ?

I run vista and i get no lags at all... To fix the brightness issue put quake3.exe on compatibility mode WinxpSP2

Personally, I have no problems running Q3A on Vista.

heh after installed 500 hz usb patch and accel fix for my 64bit ultimate vista i could play, but...... after update sys usbport dont work :F so keyboard and mouse dont work too. Finally i can do nothing except press power button on case to turn off and run again pc under xp : )

The game wont install on vista x64 (ultimate SP1), I guess you have to copy an installed copy of the game for it to run or does anyone know any other solution?

u just need the pak0.pk3
install a 1.32b update and put the pak0.pk3 into the baseq3 folder.

So, i run my Q3 finally propper on Vista.
1st problem with gamma:
- Enable compatibility mode to xp/sp2
2nd problem with pb kicked me for corupted OS API function
- New Version of PB
- nhancer*
* Because i have a dual-core, my q3 lagged everywhere, in menue, in console and in the game.
I found enhancer for nvidia cards, where i enabled single core function for q3, and since then i am lagfree and i dont get kicked for ASPI anymore. (have a look at the screen, for better explanation)
I hope it stays like than now.
