Short update. Here is the official statement that I have received from Activision support recently:

It does appear that The Punkuster (PB) support has been discontinued for
RtCW, ET and ET:QW and Doom 3. EvenBalance has dropped support for
Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: Quake
Wars. All relevant sections on the PB website has been removed.

Streaming support will continue for the time being, it is simply no
longer being updated or actively supported beyond the last client
updates.

We will continue to provide technical support for the games at this
time, however there will be no new updates from PB for the requested
titles.

Please be patient, the decision either to continue or drop PB support should be expected in the next few days.

u have at first TO DELETE all the pb files and the pb folder from your q3 install folder!

THIS IS NOT A HACK!! ALL OF THESE FILES ARE ORIGINAL PB FILES!!

im having a problem with my pb, everytime i connect on a server where pb is on, it says ERROR couldnt remove pbag.dll after unloading. Can someone please help me?

i have googled but not much help. some say that PB should be set to run as Administrator. it is about some update that cannot be performed. uninstall this pb and try mine PB. download 2 archives from ftp://ftp.ibn.bg/PunkBuster/ . extract them in q3 folder, and run pbsvc.exe to install.

Salut,
When installing pb on windows 7 or later you must right click -> Run as administrator . Also when installing the pbsvc (service).

If this is not the solution, please give more details as what doesn't work. I was able to play with pb on windows 7 both 32/64 versions. I haven't tried installing on windows 8/8.1 yet but it should work.

Also don't install the latest version from pb website since it doesn't have Quake III Arena support anymore (see 1st post on this topic). Use the version from the link i gave, posted by rank mods.
