pc problem!

Im pretty sure the problem is about AGP accel. Run dxdiag and see if texture acceleration is enabled. If not first thing to do is reinstalling chipset drivers, then install Catalyst 4.8 driver run a tool named uninstall smartgart

what directx is standard on win2000? cause he havent installed a fresh verison of it. maybe that will help.

you dont need it to play Q3 either, just run dxdiag and make sure if AGP is enabled

q3 uses opengl not directx atleast for graphic Smug

as few people said that quake probably running with software rendering, so reason why its so crappy is that you are using default windows driver or some crappy driver for your graphic card, if it has via chipset you should also install via 4v1 drivers for agp bus

but its true that older or integrated atis are really crappy with q3 engine so first try really low graphic settings

i had q3 with better performance on celeron 400 intel740 8mb on any os ;>

there is one most important parameter called purpose
all depends on for what you want to use that thing

if we are talking about gaming here (in gaming forum), linux isnt best platform for gaming Smug

then saying 'teh distro is teh best, teh os is teh best' is kinda senseless imho
and i have no idea why is this discussed in this thread
