so u say u install win 2000 new. so the software is fine.
i think its a mainboard problem. check if there are jumpers and the cpu voltage is set wrong, or maybe the fsb ... best when u check the label on the cpu to compare!
more u can check the bios .... if agp is set to 4x, fsb is set right (133mhz)last is ... the hdd run only on dma 1 or 2. maybe the transfare rate is to low - switch it if u can.
if this all do not help, make a bios update!

- check drivers: mobo & gfx
- all background programs
- imo u dont see too big different bettwen fps agp x2 and x4 in q3 with this graphic card
- clean bios

ye man SPAM! and what is ur problem with that ?? man leave me alone iam angry on u cause u are ..... i have said u my mine so talk with my hand or my bnc in IRC there i have many bnc u can talk with they wont answer but then u have something too do :roll:

Guys, let's be realistic, it doesn't make a difference if you are running Q3A on Win2K or XP.

the pc is more than ok to run q3, no probs with hardware, 2000 does suck big time, ever wonder why most people stuck to 98? ALL os have bugs, the system is so complex linux too has bugs, but this isnt the problem, if it was none of us would be playing.
most sensible reasons for taker i see is driver compatibility or BIOS....
i mean its possible something isnt liking something else on the pc, like the xp sp2 bugs wwe had with gfx a while back, dont remember the exact details i think wax knows. did you run dx diag and check visual taker?

linux has bugs ? aha and which bugs has linux-i386(confixx) ?? i have never heared of bugs in this linux version and when there are bugs there are not much perhaps 2-3 or something but at win xp puh try too count

maybe xp doesnt have as many, but i would choose xp over linux any day
just for the simplicity, of course linux is better made and all round better, but with compatibility and simplicity i choose xp

hmm that talk about linux and windows bugs dont solve takes problem!!
and of course linux has bugs! but they are not so "important" like windows bugs. a software cant never be without any faults - NEVER!
all combinations if yes no, black white, right left ....... and all in combination is infinity!

Im the Chief Software Architect at Microsoft Platform Products & Services Division and here are some
very usefull tips:

try reboot
4 (for guru's only)
glxinfo | grep rendering
@dark : users DO NOT choose their OS, My colleagues at Microsoft Corporate Staff Council allready made that choice for the user.
And btw ...i really think as some other ppl have allready said that it is a problem with hardware 3D acceleration wich is not handled by the graphiccard. I had win 2000 on a P3 500Mhz with matrox g450 running q3 just fine.

for taker well i have same problems with with shitty ATI 9250 card
it worked fine till i updated the drivers then it lagged like hell..
so i switched over to a nvidia fx5200 card worked like a charm!
