Brighter crosshair.
basicly, you need green led's to produce white light. apparently these arent possible to make yet, at the moment white is normaly produced from blue led coated with yellow phosporous. so skull is correct in saying crt can display white more closely than led, but they still aren't pure white, but near enough to fool the human eye. closest a led screen can get is with a 30 bit monitor, 256/256/256. hp used to make a monitor with a pure white filter, but this was more for improving viewing angles.
see how white your screen is displaying by holding a sheet of white paper to screen, if on screen appears as pink or blue tinge adjust your temp accordingly.
heh frank, I read a lot of your posts since some time now here and there and it definitely doesn't look like you are a gamer who has the infos at hand for gaming, whats your profession?
sry for ot, but tbh, if your crosshair isn't bright enough, turn the level darker (or play more dm17) - I never had a problem with my crosshair even with r_fastsky 0.
Good players know where the middle of the screen is anyways (I always end up using that skill when looking scoreboard while an enemy is rushing in).
go play awp in cs, then you can peak corners better and get used to no crosshair. On another note, did devs remove the option where your crosshair showed the healt color? white, yellow, red etc? Or was it a command? I used it in past with xp_drawstatus 0 for more stable fps (yes my pc isnt überkill)

Mouse issues? Mostly fixable.
and you, whats makes you who you are?
Gaming, spending my free time on what I like and not rather on what I should do, furthermore I remember stuff around quake very easy and therefor I know everything from posts and other sources I read in past, ergo I have a big knowledge of second hand Info's which mostly help.

Think the main problem here is your using the wrong cross hair because as you scale down cross hairs they basically become more translucent so if you start with a average size cross hair you cant get it very small as it becomes harder to see. however i would advise using the dot cross hair as that goes quite small as its small to start off with and maintains visibility and clarity.

I keep getting "usb device not recognised" about every 30 seconds, mouse just powers down and stops for 3-4 seconds. I have tried updating/downdating drivers, diff usb ports, stripped mouse down and checked wiring/components etc, I think it may be the main lead shorting out somehow..
well probably time for new mouse.
and what is your profession skull?
Either your mouse lead is screwed so try cable massage by running you fingers slowly up and down the cable gently pulling it/evening it out. It could also be you have too many usb components using power. I know for sure on mac's it turns off select usb components if it can't power them all, i'm not sure what is does on windows/linux.
you could also try changing your mouse rate as at higher rates it uses more power.

About your mouse, probably cable broken inside the mouse (the part where cable goes into mouse).
My profession? being student
