Hi guys

I have a big problem, it started before ~ 1 month ... when i start the game and join a server its all fine, i play some time and then (randomly) the whole game just stucks (all stops, the sound to) and it goes arround 10 secs (it plays this one sound which where on @ that time) ... sometimes it seems like something wanted to change the actually Refresh Rate of my display (but on the other side it just seems like my pc just stucks this 10 secs) ...

It cant be my pc itself (cpu to slow or ram/graphics or anything) cause it started how said before 1 month and it started very smiliar to an ATI catalyst + driver update.

I tested all arround there with the Display Refresh Override rate and stuff, it doesnt matter if its disabled or enabled on 75hz (how my desk is and my games) ... if i set the displayrefresh in game or not, it happens all the time.

Perhaps anyone got a solution for that ? Sad ... thx in advance.

It sounds very similar to my problems and seems to coincide with an ATI driver+catalyst update.... maybe we should try rolling back the driver to the previous driver and see what happens

i have this prob since forever, was wondering if it's the drivers or the card itself. in my case, tho, it not only freezes, it actually changes the desktop resolution to the in-game resolution and refresh rate. On my comp it happens in every fullscreen application that utilizes 3d accelerated graphics.... rarely, and completely on random, tho. :scratch:

Tuning my card up in rivatuner seemed to completely (? i hope, at least) eliminate it.. ever since i use rivatuner, and that would be around 2 weeks, it didn't happen once.

Mh i dont think thats a good idea for it, before i like to know, have u saved ur settings before update (catalyst) and loaded it in the new one or have you made your settings new and "maybe" there is something different seted up then before Happy

Iam not sure cause i have had to setup catalyst completely new ... havent saved my profile ^^

And btw it happened to me 2 driver updates back ... atm i got 7-1_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_40211 ... but iam very sure it happened @ 6-12_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_38463 ...

i havent got anyone older then this, perhaps someone of guys has 1 version lower ? ... i need the full package when Happy

Oh, btw, since you're on about catalyst settings - i am using only drivers, without catalyst, and it happens/happened to me too. So i don't think it's anything related to that.

mh ok, u ever updated your drivers ? ... which version u got (before/)now ?

btw i have found a 6-11-pre-r300_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_38185 ... but iam not rly sure whats about that, (it should work too but iam not sure about this "pre" and the color of icon is completely different Tongue) ...

edit: what did u tuned exactly with that rivatuner ... the Refreshrate overwrite ? or all things just arround ? ^^

now i use 7-1_xp_dd_40211.. i updated from the drivers i got with my card Big grin and those date from somewhere mid-2005..

In riva-tuner, i adjusted both memory and core clocks by a bit, but you know, i have a 9550, they're very tolerant for overclocks, i would be careful with other cards.

and u say cause you tuned mem and core clock's this problem is solved ? ... very hard to belive cause i dont think it has anything to do with that, how said for me its 98% the RefreshRate stuff, dunno if the overwritething or anything else is buggy ... dunno.

So u dont tuned anything else except this 2 things ? Happy

Well, i'm not saying it's coz of that, but i can't think of anything else that would be relevant to the issue that i did lately... :scratch:

Hm, actually, i started using a fixed in game refresh rate of 75, same as my desktop refresh rate... maybe that would help, then? Maybe they need to be the same. Thinking

Anyway, try r_displayRefresh "your_desktop_refresh_rate_here".

I honestly can't think of anything else, and in rivatuner, i only adjusted the clock settings, i'm sure of that.

in first post i wrote iam using 75 hz ingame and desktop ... it doesnt even work when i disable refreshrate overwrite ... in this kind i tryed all possible things ^^

ah yea, sorry, must have missed it.. well, i'll do some research and will try to figure out what could have made it stop. I'll give an update later.
