Re: External hard disk usb

so if I get you right, when you try to boot especially from ur second intern HDD it tells you invalid boot device or something like no volume.

In that case it sounds like the HDD has broken bootsector since the very beginning?

It started to fackup same as older 500gb disk about 2 weeks or more after I bought it, but until now I was able to reinstall windows without formating the whole disk, but now seems some sectors are unrecoverable damaged thats why it cant detect it anymore Sad
probably soon I will lost whole disk space same as old one and will not be able to ready any data from it =(

Re: External hard disk usb

So I used some "Novicorp WinToFlash" program to copy all the winxp installation files from CD to Pendrive and booted it from BIOS so I could start installation process, it asked to input CD into DVD rom and installed windows but still I am unable to select the second 500gb disk on the BIOS as second bootable device, theres appear only old disk and cd rom, I changed order so first device was pendrive, then 500gb disk and last 40gb disk, but it loaded winxp from old 40gb disk anyway, when I select order like first 500gb disk then it doesnt load anything and ask for proper device to be plugged in.

So maybe all I need to do now is to set manually boot.ini to load screen with different OS at the startup, but I am afraid that if I change something in that file I may corrupt it and my windows wont start anymore =/

heres how it looks like now:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(3)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Camel and PJax" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /TUTag=3JHKLW /Kernel=TUKernel.exe
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Camel and PJax (TuneUp Backup)" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /TUTag=3JHKLW-BAK

I have no idea how it shows the disks and partitions, what those numbers means
how to add second system, how should I know which number I need to type to set secondary disk and which partition

500gb disk partition E:\

maybe someone know a little bit more about it and how to not fack up it totally? Happy

In attached picture of the SMART you can see your HDD is dying. Look at reallocated sectors. It means your HDD has bad sectors (loosing data). SMART marking this sectors as useless so you can still use this HDD but this hdd is going to die. It may be 2 weeks, 2 months or 1 year. Its time to backup it and buy another1. Maybe BIOS of your MOBO is blocking this HDD as bootable drive because of this problem (for security reasons).

AD1: 2GB isnt such a big problem for windows 7. It will be still faster than solution you want to do with external disc Happy

Re: External hard disk usb

So it died today Straight face

edit: so I plugged it off, started windows without it, plugged on, refreshed connected hard disk devices and formated 1 big partition totally and as for now it works again, but not for a long time I guess, it will totally stop to work within few next days I guess Confused

So as I was saying, motherboard corrupt my 2 SATA disks, so I need external USB hard disk after all, as ATA old disk working till this day without problems...

clean MBR and format your disks by booting some OS on CD, no?

but I will lost all data
I think this motherboard is fackedup since a long time, the only thing is to replace it with other one, but damaged disk will stay damaged, but at least it wouldnt corrupt more because of motherboard I guess
I have no more money to put into this old trashcan, I'd rather to buy a laptop than new parts into this piece of sh1t =/

edit: How this issue works:
it literally eats every SATA hard disk till its totally corrupted
So any ATA or external USB disk can survive this insane consumption Big grin
ATA is working very slow as its old disk via old cables, but stable
USB 2.0 will work the same, but at least it would be safe from corruption

I lost any hope for a solution, I had a little hope earlier that this issue fixed itself as I didnt had any disk problems since few weeks, ofc relocated sectors were popup all the time, but disk was workingsince it came back now and starting all over again, I am working on my own project at this time and its sad that I had to format one partition on which I had virtual machine installed and I will have to keep format it until whole disk will broke some day...
