Pidgin FTW!, and if u have Linux u can try Kopete.
But i forget,: Kopete is for Windows to, but they have bug, XMPP don't working. Bug is only @ WINDOWS!

Lol guys i still don't see the advantage of Pigdin over Miranda...stability can't be an argument as at least for my Miranda i can't remember when it crashed.. oO Though i don't know what strange systems you run driving Miranda not to run proper.
I just see that Pigdin is some backstep in comperision with the totally modifyable Miranda.

But well maybe it's like Pepsi and Coke...

I tried pidgin too - didnt like it. It was too simple and not really configurable. IIRC u cannot even create auto-join commands for IRC like u can do on miranda,i wanna be automatically authed and automatically join desired irc channels while i only click once on the program icon to start it up. Miranda gives me this possibility.

Only drawback miranda might have is the ugly interface, and sometimes a pain in the ass to configure, depending on your needs, but u can make it more pretty by installing additional plugins for GUI which will also make it a bit more heavy on ram.

Digsby was nice looking, but it reminded me too much on msn, felt a bit heavy and it really was identical to msn in memory usage,so when u compare those 2 to miranda, theyre both resource hogs. I dont want a simple chat program taking up more then 15 MB. Miranda uses 12 iirc, with a few irc channels open and few msn convos while msn and digsby used 70-80.
