its due to heavy protection on skype. wich, itself, is a serious security issue.

I really only use IRC and MSN for text chat. Pretty much every computer I've touched has MSN installed so it's just convenient to use that, and IRC can be accessed on some nice websites plus at home I have mIRC set up exactly as I want it in nnscript. So while I've tried some other stuff I never got hooked, just because I don't need support for stuff I don't use and mostly they don't support exactly the stuff I already have/want/am familiar with. If I hadn't used mirc and msn since the last millenium, and/or if I used more programs, and/or if these hybrid chat programs actually had something really useful that the "normal" ones didn't, then maybe I'd consider it but as none of those are true at the moment, it just seems like a pointless and unneccessary change.

And I'm too faithful to change some things x) I've continuously said fu to stuff like gmail when it was released since I've always used hotmail and it's worked without problems for equally long, and lookie lookie we've got an inbox of 2gb or something now too, still far earlier than anything like that is close to needed.

Bottom line - need a good reason to change, and "it's different" is not a good reason, nor the possibility to do stuff that I'm not interested in, nor "it's not micro$oft!!!". But to each his own, and it's great for people who actually benefit from them that the programs exist
