Sweaty hands vs. Icemat HELP!
Hi All,
I use an Icemat for my mouse. The surface is made out of glass and in general it's an excellent moumat.
BUT...as soon as you get sweaty hands, which you can not always control, the surface get's wet also...and you can imagine what it does with a laser mouse--> you loose control sometimes.
Does any of you share this experience and/or knows how to solve the problem?
2nd question: what mousemat would never have this problem?
PLease help, it's quite frustrating sometimes!
Thanks,
Kx
dont have much experience with this problem. but looks like the problem is that the sweat from ur hand is getting spread out on the pad. and since its a hard pad, its probly also water resitant. which means ur moisture wont be absorbed and will stay on the surface playing havoc with the sensing.
possible solutions that come to mind. umm with my grip the way sweat gets transferred to the pad is at the sides of the hand near the wrist. where u hold the mouse-base. so if it's reaaaally a problem, getting one of those wrist pads mite help. it reduces friction between ur hand and the pad dramatically. (or so i've heard).
i recently got a qck+ and it was initially a little (very little) bit of a problem. but the cloth surface seems to absorb the moisture pretty fast and it didnt result in any appreciable decrease in mouse performance. but then again i have an mx518. how a laser mouse reacts mite be different.
also im not completely sure why, but the majority of reviews seem to indicate that cloth mouse-pads are better than hard ones. im guessing this has something to do with the surface patterns.
ICEMAT is good for G5,7 & RAZZER. MX518 lost on this!!
I think the best now is SteelPad 5L. I have & it,s perfect.
Also you can put gauntlet for players on heand & trouble with sweaty hands end.
steelpad 5l is good for sweaty hands never had a problem with it, but its so damn expensive.
ratz said if the 5l would be bigger he would give it a try, so it isnt that good if ur sense is low like hell.(never got a problem with lowsens if the accel is big enough ;>)
if u dont wanna change mousepad i would suggest a piece of rags for making the mousepad and the hands dry.
if u wanna chance qck+ or another mousepad.
yes 5L is expenssiv but ROCK:)
They say qpad is made to resist sweat,it shouldnt have a problem with sweaty hands, cause of the material (cloth combined with something else, dont remmember),I use qck+ and after a while sweat sticks to the pad,so u need to wash it.But u also need to be very careful and use middle temperature water,a mild shampoo and then wash it with your hand.Water should be not hot and not cold,it should be right in the middle.I didnt know this untill hq told me so I deformed my qck+ in hot water. Now the feeling is terrible, but I still claim its the best pad ever,I tried almost all cloth pads on the market xcept corepad eyepad and some hard ones like everglide giganta.Qck+ beats them all.Maybe hq wants to add some details concerning what exactly happens if u wash it in hot water .... :]
i think i was one of the first people in this mod to get 5L (had it about a year now) and it still kicks ass as good as new. 5L & G5/7 is such an amazing combination, and recommend it to everyone. Very much worth the price So kx, i guess it wouldn't break the bank now would it
ICEMAT is good for G5,7 & RAZZER
wtf, do u know about what r u talking? All mouse based on Avago ADNS-6010 sensor (logitech: g3 g5 g7 and razer copperhead, microsoft habu) has prob with icemat pad.
Back to topic. KX its normal prob with icemat, its very sensitivity on dirt. Tips: huh just wash very offen hands ;] and clean nostop pad;]
mmmh, i have also a prob with sweaty hands.
i use Qpad since arround 8 months now. and its the best pad i ever had.
kk, it becomes brighter and brighter in the area i use the mouse, but it sill rocks. I never had any sens-props, and its pretty resitable against a bit bigger pieces of dirt. I washed it 1 time with cold water and a bit of cleaning stuff, because some beer dropped on it, but it still rocks.
I dont feel any unsual friction on that pad.
(using razor copperhead).
I just have sometimes prob with the copperhead itself, sometimes it changes dpi just in game while a joinlag.
(btw, THE NAME ICEMAT dont come from nowhere not sweaty hands have low probs on it )
thanks for your replies all...i really appreciate it
I often spay deodorant on the ICEMAT + hands, but then the mouse surface gets so sticky
What I've read so far is that i need to get a qck+ mat...but on th eonther hand the icemat is such a "cool" mat...it's the only thing I bought for the computer and it sucks, so I guess Peter (husband) has to stay responsible for pc-stuff, since he recommended qck+ from the start
until futher notice: if i miss my shots against you all in the game, it's the fault of ICE..not mine
Thanks again, but don't hesitate to share your input where necessary on this thread
enjoy your weekend,
