dont be ridiculous dude. neways i take necros word for it but i still think its not really an issue. if it were then we'd have top notch people using scripts and we dont. i havent seen a single community other than the defrag one which has made a big issue of scripts. even in that case it wasnt that big a deal.

any script that gives you an advantage over players who dont use them or dont know how to use them is cheating, i mean its the only way it can be described, no ifs or buts.
I mean if you look at any game/sport anything competitive if you have an UNFAIR advantage then its classed as cheating. At the end of the day its just a matter of opinion. Some people see it as a cheat others see it as a tool to be used to make you a better player nothing can be done but to have your own opinion about thats it.
Its lame in the eyes of people who dont use it and its just a toll to be used for people who do. I personally dont use any and even if I wanted too I dont know how to so I wil never use one.
My view is that its an unfair advantage but if it is a CHEAT or not is a debatable topic, but it cant be described n one word its just to complicated.

ok im gonna play the devils advocate for a bit. the problem hadz is, thats only one way of looking at the issue. the problem with the comparison uve drawn with real world sports is that its just not accurate. just what precisely is unfair? the mod(
clearly allows combining commands. nobody's trying to hide this. nobody's trying to take an unfair advantage of this. now for someone who DOES use scripts, he can argue that whether or not u know scripts are possible is not his problem. the fact is easily available to obtain. nobodys stopping you from doing it. in point of fact, if u go look at say the promode wiki it explicitly states u can combine commands into one key. it even gives a description and download link for the ix timer. that being the case its pretty difficult to argue that its an UNFAIR advantage.
but ofcourse the point is the facility to combine keys is not meant to be used to do things like switch spam in e+. this is a problem rather unique to e+ because getting a 10 ms switching advantage doesnt really help u when the average switch time is above 500 ms. it does when switch time is 140 ms.

Ok a guy can use scripts if thats a part of his gaming, but i can never give the same respect to a script-user as i would with a non-script-user.
If i meet a guy with scripts, and he win, i wouldnt consider the game to be fair. On the other hand; i meet a player without scripting and he wins,
i consider it to be at least a more fair game.
But the most fair gamewould be to meet an opponent that are like-minded.
the more script the lesser respect and admiration.

Yep like i said wonko all you can do is have ure own opinion. That was stated in my last post and thats wat ppl have. I see it as an unfair advantage but thats my opinion. The reason i see it as an unfair advantage is because only a few ppl that know or choose to use it do so leaving others hindered in some aspects of the game. But again all you have is your own opinion, I have no disrespect for any one elses opinions including yours its just the way people view it is all thats wat im really trying to say.
If ppl wanna use it fair enough but i choose not too.

In my eyes, scripts are a built in featue of quake. And the same way fov or enemy_models give an advantage to someone who knows them over those who don't, its a part of skill. Must we start saying that those who have tweaked configs have an unfair advantage?
Its easy to find scripting tutorials, google is man's best friend

If you can be bothered to learn how to do it, why not use them?

People can cheat by setting certain built in variables too high as well, so your saying its ok to use them?

This will ever be resolved, like i said its only a matter of opinion. I f they are not a valid cheat that you can be banned for using then it can never be resolved only debated.
