mow its much more stable nowadays but it still stays a pile of crap to me. But when it first came on it was a total chaos for more than 1 year...only problems and problems and updates and patches and omg....The anger/madness it caused me in the past is enough for me to stand by my statement.

steam rox , i play DOD and CS with Steam , and i enjoy with it Winking !

I believe that God left certain drugs growing naturally upon our planet to
help speed up and facilitate our evolution. Okay, not the most popular
idea ever expressed. Either that or you’re real high and agreeing with
me in the only way you can right now. “I forgot the code, is it two
blinks yes, one blink no?” Do you think magic mushrooms growing atop cow
shit was an accident? Where do you think the phrase, ‘that’s good shit’
came from? Why do you think Hindus think cows are holy? Holy shit! Why
do I think McDonalds is the Anti-Christ? That’s Gods little accelerator
pad for our evolution. Let’s think about this, man.

VAC2 isn't a pile of shit. It detects almost every public cheat available it doesn't ban immediatly.
More about VAC: http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=370&p_created=1111599851&p_sid=SjOd4kIi&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MjImcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9dmFj&p_li=&p_topview=1

I have used Steam since the times CS 1.6 was free, which covers alot time. I've participated in Steams Beta programs and bought both retail games and games through the Steam Store.

I had my own CS 1.6 server for sometime and I wasn't satisfied with programs like Cheating Death, which required crap on the client side that makes the game laggish and drop fps. I had many reliable admins. I even was once in a group that was creating an anti-cheat program (though it never came out anything).

Steam is awesome program, it gathers all games in the same place easily boughtable and easily playable. I have experienced some crashes on Steam but usually they are something caused by own computer, not Steam and if they're caused by Steam they get fixed fast.

man u say u caught the steam beta days...i'm astonished how come u didnt face the constant steam client problems. this was a widespread problem around the gaming communities. Now it's stable yes, but it took them almost 3 years to get here...i cba to wait that long. I never had fps loss or lag because of Cheating Death...ppl who complained about it either had smth to hide or were paranoid about fps loss/lag (same thing happens now with pb in E+). VAC2 might be better than its previous version but there are far more competitive anti-cheat programs available (talking about CS here).

On a side-note u said u were part of an anti-cheat team...i'm just wondering how did u end up cheating? Do u like going from extreme to extreme?

@ Rage: u have to download the steam client which is free then u can buy the games and u will download them via the Steam client once u have activated them.

Did you use PayPal? Since afaik German people can't use PayPal on Steam. Don't know why, you might wanna search from the support on Steams' website.

Cheating Death wasn't secure. There was a program that could bypass the Cheating Death scanning feature and still let you play on CD servers. Confused
And my PB sure is fucked up in Q3. I have to suffer 1-5min of constant lagspikes before it gets stable.

I was stupid back then, it feels now that I had no control over myself.
And no I don't mean the time I was programming anti-cheat. Big grin

Hmm I don't know about it then. How about asking about it in Steams support?
