disagree foks, it's a great system that allows you to buy games without going to any retailer, they are guaranteed to work forever (cds get scratched, etc) and overall provides the safest servers for people playing online without cheats: so please explain what you see bad in it, despite the relatively large memory usage whilst gaming, cos other than that, it works perfect.

not to mention that now people can buy q3 again WORLDWIDE, cause i know that some people had problems with buying them in shops in europe, well now that's no longer a problem. Happy

Except for the fact that it tends to misteriously crash, fuck everything up and so on. I really see no other reason.

Steam is the best invention ever. All games in the same program, easy to buy, proper anti-cheat (not some lagwhore PB [and yes I've configured it but still :/]).

For me personally this looks great as I've wanted a real cdkey forever.
Never bought anything through steam though; how does it work? Anyone who has? My credit card most decidedly sucks so if it was possible to paypal or something...

In my personal ranking it gets second place right after games which require online activation even if they have a single player mode. (Bioshock will come with this.. :E)

Also, steam killed CS 1.5.

You just need to fill in the credit card number and your name, home address, phone number etc.

roflmao!!!!!!!! Proper anti-cheat?! n1. Back in the day when i was playing CS, their old VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) system was bypassed by cheats older than 2-3 years, they almost never updated it. Cheating-Death was the most secure anti-cheat program back then. Now they brought some updates and VAC2 and what do u know, it's still crap! Steam is a pile of shit but the idea behind is very nice. It indeed tends to crash for no reason when u most need it, it fucks up your pc and it's SOOOOOOOOO SLOW at times. Actually punkbuster is one of the most performant anti-cheat programs, so stop whining ppl.

cant help to notice the irony of an (ex) cheater praising anti-cheating measures Laughing (don't start a flame TD, coz im not looking for one)

ps. this is for the oldsk00L Steam users Big grin
