I think its like a active pfc in power suply, the more power u need the more power u get.

Re: Problem with smooth gaming.

display problem for me aswell...

feels choppy (sometimes) with 125fps steady (all the time)
it doesn't even depend on the map or anything (q6600/hd4850/4gb ram)

it really feels like my crt's refresh rate is dropping from 120hz to 60hz at times
like everything runs fine and suddenly it feels like shit
after a few vid_restart it seems to get better, looks smooth and then starts lagging again

About videocards:

I'm not sure that modern videocards with >128mb vram can't handle the game, because q3 worked well even on my old Intel i740 card. But I noticed that in q3 my videocard (GTX275) works in energy-saving mode, like it works in windows. And it has enough power for smooth game. So maybe your card also works in safe mode, but can't handle the game correct, or it sometimes drops to safe mode and then go up again. In this case you just need to force your videocard to max performance in driver options.

worked for me thx Happy

Re: Problem with smooth gaming.

i have fps drops depending on how many players are rendered, as more frozens, as more fps drops.

i already talked with fala about some stuff and we both agreed on that actual videocards should have 10 times the power needed for q3 @ 125 fps, so some stuff is disturbing performance.

my fps drops got 99% fixed due to installing different driver.

Re: Problem with smooth gaming.

ha i solved my fps problem Big grin

i got a new geforce 8800 gt and build it in.after rebooting all worked fine 125fps always on each map. With full server no problems.

played with vertex and mid details @ 1280 x 768

after 10 min my screen was frozen xD so i checked with EPSI over MSN some settings like heat gpu etc.. (thx for ya help Happy )

all was ok.

so i thought the old powersupply is the problem. i buyed a new one for 24 euro 500 watts. and see it works now all fine Happy My old power supply was only a 350 Watt one Happy

the graphiccard eats so much watts in desktop mode (100 watts) and in game with high performance over 200 watts) and i have installed an extra ventilator huge one xD

so that was my problem.

PC Informations:
AMD ATHLON DUALCORE x2 2,3 GHZ
4 GB RAM
500 Watt power supply
1 HDD 250 GB
8800 GT Geforce Graphiccard
4 Ventilators (1 CPU, 1 HDD, 1 under the Graphiccard @ HEATPIPES & 1 on the graphiccard
