if bad internet need use cl_maxpackets less than 125

but if use = 125 what will change?

internet will number packets exactly how much what he can, but no more 125.

reason use cvar variation 30 - 125?

some players can specially mark down their cl_maxpackets/com_maxfps that would create artificial lag!

i think u should, mby not only u, understand how actually it does works,..

feeling kind of pointless to talk about it once again since people rather choice to believe the things they do want instead of focusing on the true matter of the subject

sending lesser packets to the server does not crate lagging or warping, BUT if a client has bad quality connection the lower PPS* will cause it more strong than on high pps (higher possibility for prediction error and longer wait time for correcting the error). higher pps gives more correct position of the target (less pass trough shots) since to the client data was applied less prediction

its actually nothing new that ppl playing on low cl maxpackets to make themselves harder to hit, and i won't mind of making it fixed at 125, but u should keep in mind a downside of this, that the upstream of the connection of the client should be 32KB/s minimum! (everyone plays with TS communication and the 16KB/s should be reserved for q3, while the other 16KB/s for TS, this is absolute minimum witch probably would cause some lagging since a ADSL connection stressed to the maximum of its potential does not working to well)

out there not many ppl that has less or exact 256kbps (upstream) but still (at least skull claims to have low upstream) witch would need lower than cl maxpackets 125 settings in order to stop lagging, also take note that the thin bandwidth of the line is not only one factor that can cause lagging, a modem that is not capable of high pps (usually multiple clients sending data via WAN (u, yours brother and mom)) can cause a serious lag

in that case in my opinion a referee should change the mandatory settings to allow a player with low upstream bandwidth or bad modem to normalize his connection in order to keep his client to reduce lag or in extreme situations change his ping from 999 to playable one ?<100ms

so yeah a 125 of maxpackets as a mandatory is a good idea but there are some exceptions from it as u can see

aha keep in mind also the maxpackets are depended from framerate and even if u will set it at 125 and then set yours fps cap to 111 (for example) this wont be 125pps any more but a 62/3pps, not many players having a setting lower than a 125 for a fps but keep in mind that some low performance PC drop its framerate during gaming below the cap and change the pps from time to time witch also can cause prediction errors

also on the test made it went out that on a framerate of 250 the pps is still 125, while a settings of 250 for fps smoother the game out (if the pc is strong enough of course) while have no impact on the pps/prediction

so allowing players to play on 250fps is kind of good idea, all thought some might whine that their PC is not strong enough to keep up with it and then the other players have and advantage... in my opinion this is the same advantage like me using an professional headphones or well configures OS in order to smoother the game or hear more, u cant blame ppl that they have better PC than u and penalty them because of low spec PC users ;]
