quake 3 page:

Dualcore¶

Um den Multiprozessorbetrieb zu aktivieren öffnet man mit einem Editor [4] die Datei .q3a/baseq3/q3config.cfg und ändert den Punkt seta r_smp "0" in seta r_smp "1" um.

quake 3 page:

Dualcore

to activat the multicoremode open the data .q3a/baseq3/q3config.cfg with a editor and change the point seta r_smp "0" to seta r_smp "1"

LINK: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Spiele/Quake3 (strg + f suche : r_smp "1" )

MEGA NUUUB !!!

ps: what do you think what dualcore is ? that are two seperate cpus / cores in one chassi , they only share the bus.

r_smp has problems, as invictus has stated
it causes freeze ups between map loads in most cases and in some cases using r_smp causes negative performance
this me talking from experience, it worked (slightly) on my AMD tower (though still froze between maps)however it does not work on my intel powered laptop

i disabled some uneeded services such as Ready Boost, Indexing, Themes, Wdefender, WFireall, and Search. I only tested the 8xAnisotropic and the 4x anti aliasing and the new result was:

i'll let u know if i find smth good for ati-penguin.
i can try it bcoz he fucked win xp.

for the lastest gfx card i can't give u a feedback.. ye, i have a 8800gts and when i bought it he beat ati in smoothness and fps (gfx in the same price range)..
but seems the lastest ati works well and some ppl..

the only 1 thing i know is: big shame for nvidia drivers..
ati full drivers vers 9.6 - 37.4mb
ati only drivers 9.6 - 15.1mb
nvidia 1 choice avaiable vers 186.18 - 102mb!! (installed, i don't want to know)
