Problem with internet is partialy solved. I contacted my ISP and it looks they will give me better modem. I have this motorola two years exactly. And from start to end i had LAN between modem and PC set on 10mbps fullduplex. Because 100 is problematic. Maybe some mystake in firmware? Dunnow. But its not mystake of my network card. Yes, i have integrated but i dont use it because on my privious DFI AD75 motherboard was integrated only sound card, i bought and used some PCI card (Realtek 8139too). And iam using it still because it works better than integrated1 and ISP has MAC of this old1 and iam too lazy to contact them and stuff. I think its the most used pci network 10/100 card in the world:-)

Strange is, that sometimes net connection working good and sometimes nope.

Now i have new problem. I wanted to use special accelerated graphic effects so i installed some nvidia drivers what was automaticly downloaded and now i see after start of ubuntu blank monitor. Dont you know how to force return to default graphic drivers via command line?

ok. Now iam writing this text in my linux:-) How you can see, my network connection after 2 days with problems works. I dont know why. I changed nothing:-)

My actual problem is, that after installing nvidia drivers for enhanced desktop effets (which actually runs well) i cant use previous resolutions and refresh rates. Maximum resolution is now 1024x768@50HZ Shock

Its propably reason why my main monitor is blank. Problem is, that i have downloaded the newest nvidia drivers so i have no chance to repair by drivers update Happy

Try running:
sudo nvidia-xconfig

Then set resolution:
sudo nvidia-settings

If it doesn’t help install linux-restricted-modules and use drivers supported by ubuntu.
Enhanced desktop effect feature (compiz or beryl) usually does not work with nvidia drivers and will give you black windows (if u open many of them – depends of amount of memory on your graphics card in my 32MB card I can open only 2 windows) It’s a driver bug it might be fixed now but it wasn’t month ago.

I can't help much I don't have access to Linux machine now.

As etk says, "enhanced" desktop effects generally do not work well with the proprietary Nvidia drivers. Try to have everything else working correctly before you turn them on.

Normally monitor resolutions and hertzs have nothing to do with your graphics drivers, except for the fact that the driver chosen and those settings are both in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Perhaps the way you installed your Nvidia drivers messed up or replaced your X config? It is always recommended to install software via your distro's installer to avoid such bad interference.

If you get a blank screen press ctrl, alt,+ or - to cycle through your different monitor settings to one your monitor actually supports. (The only reason why monitor "drivers" exist in Windows is to provide a correct list of modes supported, and damn the standards for autodetecting them).

thank you guys. I will try it. Enhanced effects runs nice. Without bugs and smooth. I will try tips what you wrote there.

History of displaying on monitors:

1. start from CD. Resolution 1280x1024@60Hz on both monitors. Both monitors shows the same - mirror

2. after instalation - boot from HDD. Resolution is the same but on 2nd monitor are graphic bugs. colored squares on black screen

3. enhanced effects turned on. Resolution is 1024x768@55Hz. 1st monitor is blank - no signal, 2nd monitor running without problems Happy

Beazt, the Nvidia drivers don't support Xinerama (what you probably use for two monitors) well as far as I know. I don't use Ubuntu, fancy effects or setup, I can only help with standard xorg.conf settings. I don't know how you configure your setup, or how you enable the enhanced effects. So you are likely to get better help from other Ubuntu users concerning your monitor and graphics glitches. But if you get any problems with Quake, I'll gladly help.

Silence, your mouse should be supported fine. Did you install the Ati official, closed-source drivers? If so, then you might need to change your config to enable them. If not, fat chance they are 3D drivers.

i tried to use sudo nvidia-settings and changed resolutions of monitors (1st was disabled). Now it works nice. Only one problem is with 3d effects. If i turn effects on, aplications has not standard top bar with app name, minimise, maximize and close buttons. And terminal app is whole white Big grin And cube effect dont working too (grrr)

the mouse got supported, but thumbs key's and 2-3 Button for the finger dont work finaly.

I'll tryed a driver (8.25.18) from last year which was with Suse 10.1 together. I know there are new driver on ATI site but when i try to dl it, it comes always the _64 version down. Found a 8.39.4 driver but im on work now xD

Run those commands and restart X11

sudo nvidia-xconfig --composite
sudo nvidia-xconfig --render-accel
sudo nvidia-xconfig --allow-glx-with-composite
sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals

It should help with borders.
