Could one of you (or someone else who can speak norwegian) please translate the following lyric? Big grin I know it's many words, and will probably take some time to do so, but i would be much obliged. Big grin

(before someone asks: i DID google for translation, but no dice. Online translators don't cut it either.)

Taake - Nattestid Ser Porten Vid - Part VII

Solen har for lengst
Sett sin bane bak fjell
Stille kveld foer skoddestorm
En natt aa minnes her
Blant nevrotiske moerke traer
Hvor maanen streifer iskoldt
I sin sorgtunge form
Her hvor engler styrtet
Dypt i havsets svelg
Her hvor engler druknet
Doedsdoedt skutt av lyn
Roedt dett renner fra kirkevegg
Og dyr i mann for teften
Paa haand og fot med raggeskjugg
Og fraad om galne kjeften
Ulvgule oeyet som speiler
Og ser i moerke natt
Fra fjellet spist og bratt
Hugrer aldri av frostens grep
Kaldere enn alle de tusen kulder
Med svarte fuglen paa saa blek en skulder
Smykket med arr fra galgens rep

Whee ! Happy

Looks almost like a poem.

Unfortunally there are a few words I dont know...
But I can tell u this;
Its about the sun, mountains, nevrotic dark trees, icecold moon, angels drowning, lightning, wolves and a dark bird on a shoulder.

Last line (Smykket med arr fra galgens rep):
'decorated with scars from the rope of the gallows'

peace

Aw man, too bad you weren't able to translate all of it Sad But still, thank you very much for the effort Happy Now i'm even more eager to finally find out what the hell a song that is one of my all-time favourites means. Surprise

I'm Norwegian, but can't translate that, just something of that xD
i'm just 13 years Tongue But I can try my best:

Quote:
The sun has long ago
Set his path behind the mountains
Silent evening before [skoddestorm?] (maybe something with fog/mist)
A night ..............
With nevrotic, dark trees
Where the moon touches cold as ice
In his ....... form
Here where angles fall down
Deep in the ......... swallow
Here where angels drowned
.................. shot of lightning
Red it's leaking from the churchwall
And animal in man for .......
On hand and foot with ..............
And ......... ... ........... ............
The wolfyellow eye that's reflected
And looks in the dark night
From the mountain sharp and steep
Never ......... of the frost's grip
Colder than all the thousand coldnesses
With the black bird .. ... ....... shoulder
Decorated with scars from the gallows rope

Hope I helped you a little Happy

yeh but in the summer the effect is reversed (depending on how "up north" it is in the arctic circle ) - sunset - 3am, sunrise 4am and no "complete" darkness (i've been in a city like that in northern russia)

Hmm.. It's not dark in Oslo 13 pm Tongue
more north in Norway, it comes something called a midnightsun
the sun is up when it's night, and it's dark on the day, but that's more north..
Dunno where the border is, maybe a bit under the thin arm of Norway Tongue

*huggie*

Hum, but why can't you translate all of it? Is it in the old Norwegian language? Or some dialect?
