I need some serious help with the crosshair for the excessiveplus mod. Forgive me for being a moron, but I'm new to the whole playing quake thing. I just recently started using the excessiveplus mod, and the crosshair is a gray box, which impairs any abillity I may have had in the game lol.... I searched the forum and saw something about bad maps causing errors with the crosshair, so I got rid of anything suspicious and tried again with no luck. Still a gray box. I do, however, get an error message when joining a game about it, which is:
** R_FindImageFile could not find 'gfx/2d/crosshairj2.tga' Shader 'gfx/2d/crosshairj2' has a stage with no image. **

Now, like I said, I'm new to this, and do not know much about changing things through the console, so as I would totally welcome help, please make sure an idiot could understand it, an idiot who knows shit about Quake 3 Arena, that is. Thanks in advance !

It looks like a file responsible for how the crosshair looks got corrupted or deleted. Simplest solution would be to reinstall game, also try to change the crosshair style in the menu.

The crosshairs work fine unless I'm playing the excessiveplus mod though... could it be a corrupt file that I autodownloaded through the server or something? btw, thanks for a quick reply, I'm dying to fix this!

Only on E+? Huh.. :scratch: Ok, try moving/deleting the whole E+ folder, reinstall E+ making sure only E+ stuff and nothing else is in there, and then check out how the crosshair looks. If the problem persists try moving any non default .pk3's out of baseq3 folder. If THAT won't help, reinstall quake.

Don't download the mod from a server, download it from this site Shock I think that's your problem right there, lol

Actually, after placing unnecessary files in a seperate folder, it's working now! YAY! However, the igf's or icons or whatever you want to call them that show how many "excellent" or defense" frags, etc. are not showing and have fallen to the doom of the gray box. I'm guessing a file I need was removed while I was trying to fix the crosshair. I am not sure which it would be though Sad *Feeling Retarded*

3. Install&Run

Oh, and btw, you should have cl_autodownload OFF (ie set to Innocent AT ALL TIMES. You never know what kind of shit you download off the servers, so better be careful.

Thanks for the tip...

I have one more question, that I forgot about til now.... maybe you will know what's wrong here.... While in a game, the sound is totally fine sometimes, and then it will just cut out to dead silence.... yet another problem hindering my newbie skills... I'm using legacy for the sound. Everything appears to be working ok on my system, and the device manager sees no issues. This ONLY happens while playing Q3A, no matter what mod Winking I'm thinking this probably isn't the first time this has happened since Q3A came out. Any ideas/help would be awesome!
