Before u buy a new hdd try another IDE or SATA cable.

We are using at work for hdd testing software called seatools. try it

And where i worked we used DLG,so u can also try that
Just be careful not to use the option "Write zeros to drive"

Make sure to use proper cooling on your new hdd,if u allready havent.A decent 80mm fan should do just fine.

hdd cooling wont solve problem of dying hdds. Iam working in eshop with pc hardware on sales returns so i know the SECRET

ok it must be HHD. Because I do reinstal windows, and all go down, I can't do windows update ( Kornell.dll and EXPLORER.exe dosn't work) I try instal other WINDOWS
but the same.
Again I cant Run my PC normal, DISC BOOTT .... like alwazs and now I must OFF EXPLRORER.EXE and on IT with commeand to run normal. Soon I get new HDD and then we will see. Now most of programs like OFFICE. MEDIA PLAZER QUAKe, MSN CCCLEANER EMULE GADU GADU WINAP and more more not work good. I have manz more error like befor.
Soo thx for trz to help but i think new HDD is the best way.
