I suggest to make a server setting so an admin could force all players bypass xp_enemyColors and xp_enemyModel custom settings.

My reason is that such a tweak is a lightweigh cheat against people playing without the mod. It also kills some gaming strategies and map ideas and it also makes it much easier to cheat with autoshooting cause some program can simply simulate a click when the brilliant green points are in the middle of screen (ie no interaction with game needed, no way to detect exists). And either discounting the possible cheats it is sad to see how players can raise their aiming skill and rank just with training their green reflex. Some servers which are often have a majority of mod-less players would like to have that setting always ON.

as long as the admin also forbidds models like bones, fine.

i for myself, will go for keel or tankjr with cg_forcemodel 1, have a good day.

Generally no need to forbid certain models since everyone may use cg_forcemodel (the key point is everyone). But it is a good idea to let server filter and force player models (i do not want play vs the headless toothpick too). Essentially I talk about the green hack legalized by Excessive Plus, which turns the game into shooting range at most and brings up other problems mentioned above.

You have a point, but I still don't think it's something like a lightweight cheat, I mean it's making it easier to view enemys/hear, but I think of it as any other config that one can personalize, like fov! that some people don't change, because people are trying to max the config to play the best, and it's not just about public ofc, I don't think the ones that don't use it care ( and know about it ) care much about getting better ( sort of speak , doesn't sound so right ).

Same. What's next? Forbid r_picmip "6", r_dynamicLight "0" etc?? Everyone is free to download the mod and use the alpha-skins for xp_enemyModel!

btw... "green skins" were not introduced by XP. CPMA or OSP for example have them since ages. Big grin

Yep, sorry PANDA but your idea is not based one any facts.

and what about xp_nosnow "1" ?
Most players agree that snow is quiete disturbing, so players without mod will have snow making them more confused comapred to players with e+ clients.
Sick, many many examples like that PANDA XD

My fact is 15-lines autoshooter of green pixels, which was done within 15 minutes and successfully tested on a server with pb.

Anyway I suggested it to be switchable by admin, so there is no point to object to it. You will never see it ON on your favorite servers, and you will never go to servers where it is ON. No conflicts.

Well, Well, it is a hole in the security game. That is, with this you can play on the official CW with autoshot and nobody noticed. I think no protection from it - must be done off enemys admin server. At least for the CW.
