i dont use antivir or antispyware. Only Kerio firewall (its the same like sunbelt firewall but older kerio is better )

Well, i used 2 years kaspersky internet security and had always little problems, with browseperformance, and many tasks were slower as usual, i just thought, it must be like that if i want to be save.

well, when the license was over, i wasnt able to get quickly a new license, and i installed avira free antivirus and zonealarm.

what can i say, i have now a much quicker performance, and believe it or not, when i installed avira, it found 23 dirty files, not found by kaspersky. I made a format c: quickly, and since there i never had problems, running now since 1 year.

both, zonealarm (i dunno if it is really necassary, since i heard new firefall from windows should be way better than the old one, i just feel more save with zonealarm) and antivir, dont use much ressources, performance stays good. and for my browser i also use additionally "noscript"-plugin.

My choice:

1. Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus
2. Hardware solution preferred here. Router with integrated firewalls are widely used in Germany; some good manufacturers are: Netgear, AVM and D-Link. I'll never make the step back to use a software firewall. Currently I'm using the AVM FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170
3. Using Lavasoft Ad-Aware 2008 Free atm, HijackThis is a good choice as well.

Hi Rage. I have the same trouble like you. Only good way is format all disc. And You don't need any Antyvirus or firewall. Trust me. I use only SpyBot Search& destroy.

Just don't install eny taskbar, tools or bonus from any SETUP. And ofcourse never klik on CRAC from game's if you not shure it's good:) And Don't install not orgainal programs (BearShare, Emule, Torrent,s. This is bigest base of virus and spyweare). I have now orginal Windows and if I need some extra program I instal just Trial but from producer site.

I have bad experience with PINFI virus. This mother fucker infected my all exe. files and only format for all disc and deletet for ever my all exe. files kill this fucker:P I get this shit from CRACK to assassins creed

I dont use any things like antivirus, firewall or antixware or etc.. If u arent stupid, u havent use any type of these programs.. I have pc more of 11 years and didnt have any viruses, haxx-attacks, xware or similar problems... I won Eset Smart Security and i dont have it installed. It isnt reason to do that. Be smart, quiet and profi.

On topic: About your problem, it looks like some shitware. Try www.hijackthis.de/en and download Hijack This. Do a system scan, ctrl+c / ctrl+v paste log on that site and fix problems. If u still have problems, try Combofix (or maybe not, its only for advanced users) or Vundo and Virtumonde.

6. Webroot Desktop Firewall (trial, ending now so I will probably use zone alarm) //not anymore
7. WinXP Service Pack 3
8. and other small tools to clean up whole system..

about the smartguys without any protections, u guys know, that it can be enough to just move ur mouse over an infected thumbnail to get some bad stuff? And u dont must go to some dubios sites for it, every site can have infected pictures. And if u have bad luck, u will be not even able to format ur hdd.

mow, i didnt see virus years and years. Iam mainly visiting still the same sites. I used NOD32 in past. But antivirus programs makes PC slower... Now i will be one year without antivirus and everything is still ok... If you know what youre doing, you dont need anything. Iam using only firewall. Its make my PC slower too, but i see that its doing something. Its the difference between antivirus and firewall Antivirus only downloads actualizations
