why i cant write nickname with special letters? i maded a FILE name.cfg... & then i paste there my nickname in game, after i write exec name.cfg, he making strange nick... not like i want it... strange symbols.. i paste this: ^f^r^x0000FF^x0000FF^x00FF00…æòåå…^F^R…æòáç…
strange symbols r FREE then FRAG... in 3rd kind of letters...
sry for bad english... help please who can... if in russian i ll be very glad..

seta name "name"

yes... i allways do that.. but there writining not mynickname... some strange symbols... it looks like my PC cant read those letters

use editor like notepad, not wordpad etc.

then i write in console exec namename.cfg... he writed only "n" Thinking

then i write this in name.cfg ^f^r^x00FF00^x00FF00^7…FREE…^F^R…FRAG…... everethying is OK..exec name.cfg & then normal...

in name.cfg the letters r FREE FRAG (norm. letters)
in namename.cfg letters r special...
dont understand=(

you dont need a cfg?

make a Text Document (.txt) name it Freefrag
then open it
write:
seta name "^f^r^x00FF00^x00FF00^7…FREE…^F^R…FRAG"

Then put that file in your Quake III Arena/Baseq3 folder, then open q3 (game)
and write in console
exec freefrag.txt

and yourdone!

i dont wanna put what u writed... i nedd to write another... not notmal letters... letters like your nick... look at mine then yours... i wanna letters like yours... nobody knows what thr prob...

P.S after exec he renaming me in "..... .........." that replaycing on "...."

i think problem is in character encoding. Qname using west eur windows encoding but editor (or onl y file youre editing) which youre using for editing name.cfg using another encoding.

solution? Use better editor , create new document with west european encoding and paste nick from qname Winking

Hey Dude!

Well i have the same problem if i want to use the e+ chars in the forum
or send a name through the msn or receive i get a messed up name.

And in some cases in the game, not any more but i did have.
For forum and so on i must change my Keyboard languange to english
and i change my languange to english aswell just in case to change the name
then i change it back and it works fine for me.

But if you have a problem with the notepad then try using this:
it's a cfg generator/editor for q2/q3 just do the same as you do in the
notepad save the cfg in the excessiveplus folder then exec it in the game.
