It's been bothering me the last few weeks so here goes.

Why is it servers are continuing to allow the use of /xp_drawnames 1?

There are "ahem clans" and you know who you are!!
that push the use of this and its a cheat as far as I'm concerned.

If you can see the name behind corners without seeing the model, its a problem .

I say ban it completely.

I was actually someone who pushed this command to other people
I would turn it off and on occassionally however,
I stopped using it completely about a year or 2 ago

I have no preference on the command however I do not think it should be banned

i think it should...i meen the only thing it does basicly is screw the other dude up...it like basicly a wall hack...should be banned...

Yes this topic has been opened before. But the problem is many "good" players are using this as a advantage. If we are trying to minimize cheating
and make it a level playing field start asking admins to ban it.

imo it is no cheat coz it is allowed to all players that play q3a (each one can open the console and just type it). But that sucks, its something like a wallhack, right. I tried only once to use it and I very dont like it coz it prevents to hit. Its much easier to play with cg_drawnames 1 for example on mapel4b, generally on maps with fog.

it's a "feature" Winking

i actually use it to aim for specifically strong players in clustered areas, hopefully they can fix the wallhacking part of it for the next release...
