Personally I don't try to "cheat it away". If I'm sad, it's for a reason and that reason probably isn't going away just because I listen to a song or something. Rather listen to something that either lets some really dark and not-safe-for-humanity thoughts get the worst steam off if it's anger, or listen to something calm and sad if I'm depressed so I can get that over with aswell. I need more of the latter though, there are not a lot of really good such lying around everywhere. Currently the full version of "Lilium" (from the same place the quote came from) is king.
