Well what you guys think about VPN (Virtual Private Networks) and if they can beneficial somehow your ping and such?

Example: http://www.purevpn.com/vpn-service/vpn_for_mmorpg.php

Ofc there are many other around the globe.

Just curious if someone used them or tested them.

sounds interesting but does it really reduce your latency and improve your gaming connection ??

working well, and improved my ping of 10ms on servers like Beer.Freezer, etc.... seems legit.

i usually got 80-90ms on Beer.Freezer with the vpn i got 60-70ms

VPN always makes your connection to worse, as your connection need to handle additional routes and that 10ms of ping drop is false, I mean, his ping doesnt really dropped down, the ping is measured from the VPN IP to the server, as you see his country flag is different too.

also free VPN services are worse too, you need to have access to some premium vpn that is near your real location or your own one hosted on some dedicated machine, but why do you want to use it for gaming anyway, its purpose its to hide your true identity Happy

I have tested the VPN connection some years ago (to hide my identity on one server) and I have made the same conclusions like Camel. The free VPN services are really not good for online games... at least not good for Q3. The premium ones... well... I wouldn't pay for it if I would use the connection only for Q3!! No advantage for gaming!!
I have, for some other cases, a VPN connection established on my computer.
