Hey guys, I’m searching for a good headset and I had the hope that you could help me. I know about some geeks (hihi) here, which are probably able to support me with some further information.

My headset must have the following qualities:

- light-weighted (not more than 500g)
- comfortable (using it at work as well, so I have to wear it about 10 hours a day)
- good ingame sound, it’s not about enjoying music, it’s all about playing E+
- < 100 Euro

Ofc I’ve already browsed many threads and sites and I decided for a Sennheiser PC headset. The only question is, for which I should decide:

PC 161 or PC 156. The 161 has a soundcard integrated in the cable. Since I’m playing on my notebook (cheap on board soundcard), I considered to buy this unless somebody tells me that the soundcard chip is completely useless bullshit.
I’m aware of the fact that the newest one of this series ist the PC 166, which is simply to expensive for me. If the soundcard isn't that important I will decide for the PC 161.

Any other recommendations, especially from persons who are owning a Sennheiser pc headset are appreciated.

If you are interested in this topic at all, then pls check out this thread as well, which is about good headphones. Click here to get forwarded to the Sennheiser gaming headsets.

I had sennheiser phones, but they werent PC model. They were mid-range model (50 euro) and I can only recommend u to pay attention to the following:

- open or closed principle (open means that some sound can be heard outside of the phones, lets say by a person standing next to u while u have them on your head, but it also means more natural sound, personally didnt work for me cause i share a room with my brother Winking

- size of the ear cups and type (I heard and saw PC models usually have small size ear cups,so they wont fit on big ears very well, maybe pay attention to that, sennheiser also has models that have flat ear cups...meaning no hole for your ear (my model had such style) and it was pretty uncomfortable)

So in short, deffinetly try them on your head in the shop,u should feel immediatly are they sitting properly and are they comfortable or not...good thing sennheiser has is sponge on top of the phones which make them very comfortable for long periods of time.Cant say anything about quality in-game but pc models were made for gaming primarily so I guess sound should be good.

@ Ratz: All headsets of these series belong to the open-built headsets and I feel ok with them. I have a room for myself, but I still need to hear the door and the phone.
Also I've already tried them on my head and I had a pretty good feeling. They don't press too much against your ears, but still they feel stable on your head.

Last issue I want to see cleared is, whether this soundcard chip is necessary for me. Too bad that I don't have the possibility to test both models in game. Sad

@ Tyrant: Check out the last two sentences of my last post. I've already put a link to your thread into there.

Or maybe there is? Why dont u bring your laptop with u in the store and try them on it? When I was buying a mousepad I brought mine good old 510 with me and tried all pads in the shop ;-]

I am using Sennheiser px100 those headphones are quite comfortable for me and sound quality is OK even in gaming. KOSS porta pro have better sound but horrible uncomfortable. Price ? i bought it for Ł20 on amazon.co.uk.

For sure good for mp3 player but i never seen professional gaming headphones and i can't compare to them.

And you will hear opening doors without a problem.
