I noticed fps acting like it was on drugs on pb=1

Haha Big grin. I think that I might of found a way to fix the problem. I was tweaking my config to get the best visuals, and i found "cl_punkbuster x", I turned it to 1, and thats when the low fps started happening. I went back into my config and changed it back to 0, connected to a 2!S server to play 1v1 with a friend and I couldnt get back on because PB was off. I left the game and turned PB on in the multiplayer menu instead of doing it through my config, and than i reconnected. I then played 2 or 3 games with 125fps and it didnt go down lower than 90.

My guess is that it might have something to do with enabling PB in your config instead of in the ingame menu. I'm not sure if this will work for anyone else, because i kinda killed my config and crashed quake because of it Laughing .

Another thing that helped was to leave PB off unless I was going to go to a PB server...thats what I did to help my lag Happy long post xD

Today it happened to me again...fps smashed down to 20-30 for 5 seconds cca and then it went back to normal, totally jerky, and I was playing be.cfg via local host so I doubt its pb related.

umm alias. it shouldnt take a rocket scientist to realize that using pb_cl_enable and turning pb on through the gui does exactly the same thing.

its pretty obvious this isnt pb related cos then EVERYBODY should be getting it. and i for one am not.

@Ratz - But you DID had the pb client on, or not? I, for example, never shut it down, even if i play with bots on localhost.

@Wonko - It could be a combination of two things, and one of the could be the latest pb build.

Edit, if the low fps were coming from my graphic card (ie, drivers or heat problem...), would the sound be really choppy too, or does that mean the problem is coming from elsewhere?

first time ive ever heard of q3 sound being choppy. in any case choppiness in sound and low fps are extremely unlikely to be caused by the same problem.
