I remember Terror telling me about his "master plan" a few months back and I was never in favour of it Big grin . As in the plusN debate of "insta" or "non-insta", clans will only player their preferable cfg's.

I said that... and i also said that e+ would likely not have the population for it but if we kept the original rule of rail/plus there would still be only a maximum of two clan to join. clan are not made on config based rules but instead weather their rail or plus this rule will stand even if the mini tournaments change to specific config types.

also in my own thoughts about ranking i would keep original system as its good enough, otherwise will would have to be bigger i can see lots of things that could be ranked apart from wins and losses. but this would require automation.

ali your proposal, how does it actually change how games are ranked of does it only increase the amount of ranked games played. i like the idea of smaller events and people could even play dual events for their clan as long as suitable rules were set.

Ok, I explain Happy

Lets say, we have started with this new system, and no clan has any point nor a medal. And we have 3 simple elimination cups running :

  • Event 1 : 8 clans
  • Event 2 : 4 clans
  • Event 3 : 12 clans
3 top clan of each event have a medal.

so as a result :

  • 3 clans have gold metal
  • 3 clans have silver metal
  • 3 clans have bronze metal
  • 15 clans have no metals but they are all equals. They all can keep challenging others
  • all clans have no points at all

For the extra idea of having many small events :
Imagine 2 or 3 small freeze plus cups running on the same time. Generally a good clan will register to only one, so others have more chances to get medals too.

And the last idea of making fws as cws is simple that way. There will be no notions like cw and fw anymore. "All are ranked" but as there is no point system, clans have nothing to lose by playing wars. On the inverse if they win they earn something.

So to sum up, if a clan wins a cup he earns something(medal), if he loses on the cup, he doesn't lose anything Big grin

There seems to be some lapsus here, how does this constitute a "simple ranking"? There is nothing stopping anyone from organizing small events now with restricted participants (i.e. skillwise like a newbie cup). So why isn't it happening?

Maybe that is worth thinking about before going on a organizational crusade.

Re: Simple ranking system discussion

hehe ok ali ty. Happy so this new system would reward activity. would the medal be added up to form any kind of ranking or is this more about achievements. because a new clan a few years later down the line will have nothing a an old clan will have a list of acheivements/medals. or are these medals counted each year and that ladder could represent yearly ranking (then get reset).

because i think its important to have a way of measuring rank so we can see who is actually better. Instead of looking at a list of past medals and not knowing weather they are anygood now.

so the medal would have to be converted into points somehow on a time constant each month or each year whatever. then we have got the look at how to keep the playing field fair. IE: an older clan will have more medal because they have being around for longer which is unfair if you measure using a time constant (eg: a year) so each year the medals would have to be reset.

ofc you can divide it up further by having monthly as well (how many medals earn't in each division (this could be a month or 2 or even 6 months) of a year. these i guess would not be reset but instead just taken out like a sample (eg how well a particular clan did in that month compared to anther)

so to look back this way ali's medal system would still reward activity and have a constant, time based rank. becuase i think clans should be able to see weather there statistically getting better as well as earning medals (for joy in the short term Happy .

thats how ali's system could be ranked and keep the idea that being active gets you rewards.

I call it simple ranking because :

  • of the no-point scoreboard, just medals.
  • ranking mod after validating matches and the end of the event, will add only a medal to winners clans instead of adding result of each ranked match.

Yes, except that here it's about clans and not nations and it is working during all the year and not just on olympic games event. Happy

@meteor : yes, we could imagine as we have actually a Neverending ranking (medals) and year's scorebaord.

For points, I dunno if it is accurate to convert medals to point value on end of year. But if ppl want them afterall, everyone will understand that a 32clans cup's medal has more value than a 4clans cup's medal, and points can be calculated annually only.
