i'm not the most computer literate... but when my computer restarts when doing a specific thing, i do the following:

defrag hard drive.

try again...

unplug usb stuff.

try again...

windows restore.

try again...

clean inside of my computer...

try again.

after that, the shizzz gets serious, we are talking major reinstallations and hardware replacements.

by the way punkbuster is a windows service now too... so make sure your services settings are correct.

well yesterday when i wanted to close computer simply i went to quake and he shooted himself down on one way was faster then start -> shutdown but hell .. had to do smth..so deleted the pb folder and it doesnt restart anymore..

@Ronin : i went to services for checking and both(pnkbstra & pnkbstrb) are up and running also in the end task manager they appear under the processes tab.

I'll try what skull said later today and will give u an answer

may i ask why'd you get q3 from a torrent? and had quake 3 worked previously on the exact same set-up previously or had you reformatted? New hardware?

Obviously the install has nothing to do with your PB not working (or at least nothing noticable).

Does your PC reboot randomly when you do anything else?

I know my little brother's GPU over-heated and his PC would reboot as a result every so often when he did certain things/running so long. Random PC reboots come from different things. Look over your hardware/clean it out like ronin had suggested

try to turn off your firewall. Or use better firewall with learning mode (for example kerio/sunbelt firewall). Processes like PnkBstrA.exe and B needs access to internet. If not, youre kicked.

and additionally some lousy antivir progs, tend to block punkbuster too.

get Avast! it owns. and is free.

I am proud of spreading a pirated Excessive Plus version and claim to be the original author, yay!

hmmm in past i was have many problems with pb and many advice from players but nothing helps but i try to format hard drive instal windows xp sp2 and evrything start to work fine so the reason was virus pb don't works when you have some viruses or files infected by them
