I installed Linux OS completely deleting Vista. How can I get MSN and Q3 on Linux?

I told you to dual boot your PC Sadeos. I guarantee that you will go crazy with only Linux as you have no patience.

However, I sent you a bunch of info, a small bit of which I will post below:

Forget using the MSN Client on Linux even with WINE. Don't try it. Pidgin comes with Ubuntu and is superior to all other IM clients in memory mgt, and simultaneous multi-protocol support. It is what I have used since 2004 not just on Linux but also on Windows XP.

A few "old" links to help you install and run Q3 on Linux. Also speak to Digit.

You will also need to get pbsetup. It has versions for Windows, Linux, and Mac.

I have the Q3 CD and the linux patch to make it work but everytime I try to install the patch and put it anywhere. It says "Write permission denied"

Sounds like you need to login as root. I will send you the exact steps via PM.

Ubuntu (out-of-the-box) disables root from logging in. You have to enable access and set the root password, restart, login as root, do what you want then login (without rebooting) to your normal acct. You can then switch between users (just like in XP/Vista).
