Guys, i need some help regarding PB (ain't that a surprise 
)
The problem is, i lag. But not lag-lag, i mean lag-ffs-shit-can't-play-god-fucking-dammit-lag. Whenever PB scans my HD for any hidden cheating shit, my computer hooks up for 20 seconds, and i get serious lags for the next 3-4 minutes (packet loss). I wanted to get back in regular play soon, perhaps find myself some nice clan or something, but it would be impossible for me to play any CW's with this problem.
I'm pretty sure it's because of my ram. It's not damaged or anything, but i only have 256 now after my hardware upgrade, on my old mainboard i had 1gb (i had to buy ddr instead of ordinary sd, hence why i have less now), and on 1gb i didnt had any of this lag. ;-/
Anyway, what can i do? Any suggestions? I already tried twinking pb_sleep and pb_system, but at best there was no difference. Help me puh-leaaaze

I'll assume you already defragged? Maybe (just guessing here) you could clean out any unnecessary files laying around your quake3 folder, it could only speed things up...

mmh, if u think it is ur ram, than i have following suggestion:
check how much free ram u have, and try to close background progs and look again ur free ram.
Than rise hunkmegs to same number as u have free ram.
Maybe u try to double ur sd-ram, since it is so cheap on ebay.

Well, i did everything you guys suggested... i throwed everything unnecessary out of my q3 folders, defragmented my hd, closed almost every single background process that wasn't labeled "system"... no dice ;-/
Anything else i could do?

I'm pretty sure everything is a'ok with my hardware. I did several different checks on my ram, hd, mainboard and cpu functionality, and everything seems to be fine. My computer behaves like any other machine with comparable system parameters, except for these stupid pb lags

Motherboard and Cpu - Asus P5VD1-X w/ Celeron 3.06 64bit
Ram - Kingston 256mb 400mhz
Graphic - Radeon 9550 256mb 128bit
HD - Seagate Barracuda 400gb
I think that's all that could possibly be relevant.

What antivirus do u have ? Use something small maybe ull free ur ram or only firewall .

Not much to clean there, except some random custom maps.
I'll try that too, but i don't really have much background stuff running, except av and messengers.
I could, if i didn't had ddr.
I just don't have cash to buy more...
