I dont think TFT is good for quake, many parameters have less like CRTs...

hmm philips is not bad... but to play q3 with this monitor ... jea ok. but more or less u loose the fun.

go to a store and take a look on different screens ... u will see miles of differents then
1 sceeen has good colous, 1 has more extras, 1 has a reflection screen, 1 has a good xxx and so on. take a look from far away and from the nearest position ... from the side and from down and up. and then choose this 1 whats best in your eyes.

and dont buy a cheap 1! u are unlucky later - save money 1 or 2 month more and buy a good - this what u see and say its best!

so belive me:

do never buy a tft over the internet if u not take a look on it before and compare to other! not only the technical datas are interesting.

and btw!

a tft has always a delay ... 4ms or 8 or more
and it has a limit of colours.

a crt has no delay, and infinity of colours!

i buy a crt again! 19" iilayama cause no tft is so good (in my eyes)

if u want a LCD monitor, u should consider buying one with DVI socket If u have a graphic card with DVI output. When U plug a vga (analoge) signal into a LCD monitor the signal is sampled to get the intensity of each pixel. There are noise sources in a analoge to digital conversion so by using DVI u avoid a D/A convertion and an A/D convertion and thus the pixels on the monitor represents the digital information in the computer better. If it makes a huge quality boost i dont realy know ....but some ppl claim that.
