I dunno, the sensor probably is of the same type as the G5, maybe a different model. But the type surely has to be the same, and since the G5 is a pretty impressive one this should also be. Logically.
Since, the G500 is basically an upgrade to the G5.

Revoltec seems to be a good brand, I'll try their Revoltec Fight Mat XL. I hope it will last longer than the Roccat Sota.

Anyone heard of the Snipa mouses?
http://www.cybersnipa.com/us/
I dunno about them, but if anyone has used them would be nice to have an insight.

I was thinking of ordering a cybersnipa mouse (don't remember the model tho) at e-bay, but I never got around doing that.

i didn't read all the posts in this thread, but if you say you have big hands and use a reasonable sensitivity, then i think you should "try" :

Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical : http://images.techtree.com/ttimages/story/wheel_mouse_optical.jpg
Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical 1.1 : http://com-tra.de/img/p/07104_o.jpg
Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 : http://www.surface1030.de/img/p/07099_o.jpg

These are quite old but cheap, solid and faithful mice. (also preferred by lots of top quakers and cs'ers, although they aren't as high-tech/flashy as fragile razer mice)
The Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 seems to fit bigger hands better as it's bigger than the other two i mentioned, but once again it's only about personal preference and what you feel comfortable with.
Also, 400dpi/125hz@5 years warranty > 10.000dpi/1000hz@1 or 2 years warranty.

ps: Logitech MX518 might also suit you well.

np

you find mx518 is small, wow you must have gigantic hands xd, it's way too big for me but i finger grip the mouse, i don't palm grip.

imho if you don't feel comfortable with your mx518, you should send it back and try ime3.0, but it's only my point.

here's a link for a youtube vid comparing mx518 and ime 3.0, you can nearly see how they look like compared to each other :

and here's a pic of ime3.0, deathadder and habu :
