It is simple playing upon a man's ego. Some religions keep on teaching us that we are the most evolved and best species, because humans have a big ego. Ego that needs satiation.
But we are not.

If you take a look as to what organism would stay on Earth no matter what happens, you can only come to the conclusion that the most evolved organisms are: bacteria, rats and cockroaches.

Virtually indestructible, extreme survivalists, and basically conquered the earth.

Hopefully humanity will one day stop thinking with its ego, and start using reason. Hopefully.

All religion is aboute the same principles.
Create a felling of affinity, reverence, symbolic portray the undescribeable and illustrate a supernatural reality, and we have the ethic and moral valuation, but i think it was allready in place but religion could be used as a tool to maintain and clarify the ethics and moral to society. Gah there is more but i have to piddle, been holding it for like half an hour, but you dont really have to study every religion when its basicly build up on the same principles.
