Hi all, I have an ongoing problem, that most of the time (certainly after the first map I play) I get a sort of lag. my ping is at about 40 ish on mows servers, so not much wrong there. But the lag I get presents it self in ways like....

I get shot before I see a player come aver a ledge,
before i see a door open,
and before that guy says FIGHT at the beging of a map.

anyone else with this ? It would be ok if it was now and again but once I’m into playing (like 4 maps in) its constant...hence all the reconnects I do Happy that seems to solve it for maybe a map and only sometimes.

I have had this problem for a long time and have tried to exhaust all possibilities, like every possible snaps packet setting etc, before I post here,but I’m just plain out of ideas. I need a quake guru to the rescue Happy

@Wax: I think Its something on your side of network. I always have there constant ping ~50, no mather how long I play.

cheers mow, that’s def cleared some crap form my cfg Happy but it seems about the same Confused

it also effects weapon damage

ie when I feel its running fine and I use rl and bfg I get normal amounts of splash damage. but when its lagging again I can shoot 5 bfgs and rl into a small room and its like the person isn’t ever there ..I mean like no damage at all not a blip ..sometimes a lil I suppose but mostly its like I’m firing at fresh air.

check ur fps? q3 does weird things when u get fps drops.

thx wonko, but I have an nvida 8800, 125 fps is rock solid, I rarely even see it flicker.

also, do you have a resident av? firewall? try disabling anything that might interfere with your internetz once before starting q3.

And that also may be a pb prob, do you have it on non-pb servers? Try playing around with pb_sleep and pb_system (keep in mind that those arent cfg settings, only tweak them in-game).

test ur connection with another pc
if it doesnt exist we know its ur pc, if it exist its ur connection and u have to buy a new one.
