Is there any way to make the letters coloured when u chat, (ie as in the link you give in your post, Kraster)... I've tried ' ^2+b# ' and such but it still comes up white

did u copy with ctrl c and paste it ( ctrl+v) directly ? 
Save it in a txt word and put it in baseq3 folder :
txt will be like :
ex.
seta name "^f^3^fhsduf^4" (whatever u want and dont forget the "" ) save him(lets say a.txt) and in console u do
/exec a.txt
and after writeconfig a(example)

i did lol
im not dumb i played wolfenstein et 1.5 year allready made my own q3 config but when i try to make the name :metal with special letters and i get on quake it says my name is:unnamedplayer+

it doesnt work when i create a short name like only metal in that letters and i go in game it says my name is:Unnamedplayer^s^f^5^5+
why it doesnt work...also the ^a1 ^a2 etc doesnt work..
