Hi...i`ve posted here cuz i`m tired of searching solution for this....
Since i`ve upgrade my e+ mod to 1.03 i get a high cpu usage and high cpu temperature...after 5 minutes of play...my pc freezes and suddenly restarts. I`ve tryed several times to reinstall Q3 even with different versions...but the result was always the same.
I don`t know what couse the trouble...but i`m sure that is related to windows...cuz i`ve played Q3 in Mac OS X and Linux on the same PC and never experienced this thing...
BTW this problem ocures only when i`m playing e+...with baseq3 all goes well...
Tired of trying and reinstalling windows and quake i`m asking you for help to solve this....

Thx in advanced..

why don't you simply use linux or something?

else i can only recommend to lower the priority of your quake. this helped me with another game once, don't know if it helps you though.

control+alt+delete out of quake --> processes --> rightlick on quake3 --> set priority --> lower/lowest (youll have to try to find out what works best)

(don't know if the tabs are called like that [german version Sleepy unfortunately], "processes" is the second tab from left in the task manager)

it should save the priority you set, so you only have to set it once.

however, i don't know if this really helps you, but i think its worth a try.

Hello...thq for your quick reply...i`ve tryed using the trick of decreasing the priority of the process but without any succes....
To answer you y i`m not using another os to play Q3...because i can`t find the good sens to play Q...

Anyway thx again for the replay...and hope that someone had or has my same problem and can help me out with it...

since you upgraded to 1.03... when was that?
are you sure it's an issue with temperature? (when i have a temperature issue, usually i clean out the dust from in the comp and everything is fine again.)

if it's specifically e+... that is unlucky... and weird.

mmmm my laptop used to get over way over 80 degrees C and would drop dramatically in FPS due to overheating ...
I then found a program called Rightmark CPU clock utility... this tool helps reduce the voltage slightly , so that less heat is produced, thus stopping the overheat... however i wouldnt recommend until it is a last resort Happy Big grin

He can decrease the voltage in bios, but would also have to clock down the cpu clock itself. Rather run prime 95 which stresses cpu to the maximum (and ram too) so u will know for sure. Download latest version and run the small FFT test,if it passes run the Max Heat and power consumption test.

Croatia is very close to Italy, dunno the situation there but here air temps went insanely high the last few days...32 over day and 21 over night...yesterday I had a freeze myself in windows,on a rock solid pc which usually never crashes.

Thx for the replys.

@Ronin as i said before a reinstalled my windows and quake dozens of time and allways had the same effect...unfortunately...

@ Ratz....i don`t think that the high temperature outside could influence that much the temp of the cpu....cuz i have this problem even in the winter....

Anyway i`ll try using that software and reduce the voltage...hope that it won`t damage my cpu Happy

thx guys...cheers

hehe it wont, just dont reduce the voltage more than 10% - 15% Tongue

1) download everest and go to computer-->sensors
2) download prime95 and start "blend" (cpu+ram) test or "small FFTs" (cpu) test
3) after 10 minutes look for the cpu temperatures in everrest
4) if they are not higher as 60C° it should not be a temperature problem (software problem Big grin)
5) if the temperatures are higher as 60C° get a new cpu-cooler Big grin

lol dont tell him to just drop voltage.
if the computer is still under warranty bring it back to the store and open a can of whoop ass.
but it sounds like a bad oc'd computer or some comp noob assembled it for you.
to solve the problem you need a little comp knowledge and you are realy at the wrong forum for this question.
or at least install everest ultimate edition and give us some detailed computer info to start with.
