Hi everyone. I started playing E+ 8 nearly 8 years ago (where does the time go?) and haven't played in years and upon fond reflection of how much adrenaline-rushing fun I had with this mod I decided to come back to it and am happily surprised to see it's still around and going strong from the activity on the forums. I need to find a copy of Q3A since mine's long lost but before I do I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the state of E+ is these days? Is it still as active as it was 5 years ago? Is there more or less hacking/cheating in the servers? Has there been any significant modding of E+? Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to playing again soon.

The community is still fairly active, but since it appears you're a North American player, there is next to no USA server or players anymore.

Dangerously cheesy.

Hello NitroStatic,
Azrael is correct about not many USA players but there are a few. Actually there is a lot but they do not play e+. They are playing a custom mod on version 1.30. There is however a couple of E+ USA servers, mine being one of them. Check out the server spider.USA server is ranked #16.

Depending on how long you played after your join date you would have played 1.02b and 1.03. A new version, 1.04, was introduced in 2009 with some major changes. Depending on what cfg you played it will be more or less noticeable.

The amount of players is much smaller than in 2007 but you can still get on and play, if that's what you want. Blatant cheaters of the oldschool kind are not as plentiful, partly due to the mod making it so hard to see it and partly due to an anticheat system that was introduced - and again, due to the tiny playerbase.

Do remember that the mod is unlagged, with additional unlagged support added in the newest version so it might be that it's entirely playable on European servers for you. Oh also, there's no DeeX servers anymore.

Thanks for the info guys. That's interesting that the USA players aren't as active as they used to be. What is the mod they play? Does it compare to the fast-paced nature of E+? Wow no more Deex servers? It's been years so I guess that shouldn't be too surprising to me.

You can check out matchlessgaming.com
also go to gametracker.com and click servers.
Check quake 3 and united states as location.
You will see the top servers are all located in the US.
I cant tell you how the game play is. Most servers I have visited are
regular old vanilla quake 3. I recomend this community.
Lots of nice peeps and also a few ass holes to keep things interesting Happy
You just can't beat the E+ mod. I would suspect E+ has way less cheating.
Admins are all over that shit.
