Hi guys,

I installed CPMA (latest version) and basically changed these settings.

/com_maxfps 125
/r_swapinterval 1
/cl_maxpackets 125
/snaps 40

Now I played for 5 minutes and realised that it was fucking smooth fps and no lag etc. Now when i come back to e+ and tried the same thing, It's a different story.. Is it a mod issue or are they both supposed to behave in the same way when it comes to graphics/lag/fps etc

cheers

Yes, it is a mod issue. CPMA has a dedicated team of devs behind it, tons of features, constant bugfix updates, and incomparably smoother gameplay are the result.

Netcode has some serious issues in 1.03, players tend to dissapear s they come from the corner, then they suddenly apear in front of you (if you have a sligtly unstable connection), unlagged works a bit off, you can hit people not on your crosshair, pretty much needs fixing.

Also with all the amount of weapon missiles flying around and exploding all over the place, E+ induces drops in FPS.

Let's all go paly OSP Big grin.

I've been using all these for months to account for my lack of skills...

I also think some of these net fuck ups come from unlagged being turned on... I personally think unlagged is a lot nicer. Often, I have to counter lead to hit. Gogogo E+ team, Fix all these issues and earn the right to do it again!

i dunno about CPMA, but /r_swapinterval 1 is like saying V_sync 1, and in my opinion definitely makes e+ wayyyyyyyyy smoother (and bq3 for that matter), but if you have a 60hz flat panel monitor (like me), then it will only make 60fps. I played like this for a while, and then changed to swapint 0, maxfps 125 and found that even tho i refresh at 60hz, i still saw enemies a bit better with higher fps, but i lost that smooth feel. Ideally, a CRT monitor with 125hz refresh and set maxfps 125, i reckon would be the best set up. Happy

If u use swapint_1 on LCD u might get serious sensitivity issues. For me sens was completely changed, because vsync adds input lag which is highly noticeable on LCDs and not so much on CRTs.But I have a 75Hz panel and have no problems playing without vsync in quake.

Dont forget PB is also affecting our lags, sure that netcode is crap but PB plays an important role as well.Try turning it off in server and u will see what i mean,u almost get that 1.02b feeling.Previous PB back in 1.02b didnt cause so much lag, they fucked it up completely after that.

Does PB enabled still affect your smoothness even if the server has pb disabled?

Nope, only if the server has it enabled as well.
