Black screenshots

I have quite alot of black screenshots coming out lately [auto screenshot is enabled],in other words,they come out completely black and unuseable... I remmember I had this problem a loong time ago but I'll be damn if I can remmember how I fixed it.Any help is greatly appreciated.

or, driver problems? Smug (something with driver gamma? )

I thought it was gamma also,it was on 0.9,then I returned it back but the problem remained Worried Go figure..I was convinced that that was the solution to the problem when I 1st had it.

you mean all of them, or just some (on random)?

On random,some of them...there is no rule,only thing i can say is this;
Currently there are 3500 screens in my folder.I see first black screen is no. 750,dating from may 2006.After that one black screen everything was fine untill no.1266.So for 500 screens nothing... And take a look at this screen how it looks lately...horrible.Soon I will have pitch black in my screens folder.

Scanned for bad sectors,cleared up free space on quake partition,its not that,it was still happening.So I talked to HQ:

HQs solution - change auto screens to TGA format,not JPG,then its not happening
-sounds nice,altho 1.3 MB cca per 800x600 screen is 2 much for my poor 25 GB partition :]

So I cleared up screenshots folder and started over,for now its not happening,we will see for how long.

Im also suspected it could be a 1.03 "feature",so I checked cca 8000 screens on dvd from 1.02b,and I found some black screens there also,BUT only 15 out of 8000 :]

And in my current e+ folder for 1.03 there is 140 of them out of 3500 in total.So it could be 1.03 had some effect on black screens,since there is obviously more of them now,maybe e+ team should explore the problem.

hm ratz, i never had the issue with auto screenshot.

on the other hand, HQ's idea is pretty sound, just run irfanview after a while, and autoconvert the TGA's to JPG's Happy

I had a problem like this once. Try upgrading or downgrading your graphics drivers. All mine needed was a good ol updated from its website. Try that Winking

/bind f5 "screenshotJPEG"

press f5 after every game that is worth saving screens for, that way u never have to sort them out either Big grin

I had that issue for awhile. Just re-installed my q3. LOL! got tired of the key bind.
