Does it look like permanent ban?
I have this message sometimes. I blame long cvar (gradient in name) and/or packet corruption. In my case reconnection helps.

Noone banned him, this stuffs happen when the server sees you having "" or UnnamedPlayer or ExcessivePlayer as nickname. Check if your config have exceeded 16k or just change your name in console and do \reconnect ..

It happen to me alot of times and when i used exceeded 16k configs (due to too many mods installed in q3)

No, never been banned anywhere, played on hundreds, probably thousands of servers and never ever had this happen. cfg size is 8.62k. one thing i have noticed though is i have this

seta xp_name "^0^1X^1^0x^0^1X"

and this

seta name "^0^1X^1^0x^0^1X"in my excessiveplus.cfg

and this in my baseq3.cfg

seta name "^0^1X^1^0x^0^1X"

To be honest, I shouldn’t have posted that way, true. But I am tired of people who ask for help and give for that no necessary information, means they just register and don't read rules and advices before the first post.

I do know all the usual reasons why i could get this message, thing is i have never seen this before, maybe admin on that server banned the name xxx and put the reason as please use a name. It is the sort of name an aimbot haka would use. I think a bans text ignores the ^colours?

bans work as soon as anything matches, that also goes for any fakenick that uses easy as part of the name on retro ffa, you can call yourself even NOTeasy and still be banned because of protected name Surprise
