About Cheating,

First of all, this thread is supposed to be not a anticheaterguide or similar, I write here only about my personal impressions and I attempt to call names as less as possible.

1. From my viewpoint, the cheater discussion is much too public. I find in every forum, every day a few new cheater threads, so that always some thread stands completely above, and everyone is reading it. Nevertheless somehow the collecting-thread of Warnerman is perfect to report cheaters, most admins always look there in that, nevertheless it is not necessary, that every newbie and not-admin reads permanently a little about the cheating? That makes the people only curious!

2. I have basically the request, that before you do something public, you must be sure about, that the suspected person is cheating “in fact”, because it is nothing worse than if somebody is accused wrongly, and the person lose through that, the trust of the half the community (I know at least 2 examples, where I saw that).

3. If it is already necessary to open a new thread about a cheater then please do a demo. If you have a look to my attachment, you can find a random-demoscript. I use it as follows: demo.cfg in the baseq-folder. In my q3config.cfg I have following commands: "bind F5 exec demo.cfg" and "bind F6 startdemo-stopdemo-toggle". Of course u can write the "exec demo.cfg" also into the Autoexec.cfg.

4. Basically somebody can be sure that somebody cheats only with "autoaim-cheater". Since at that the crosshair jumps from opponent to opponent in incredible rate exactly. With "autoshoot" and "wallhack" u have the problem that u can not see directly the cheat at work. With u can make a suspicion only in connection with the accuracy and with a wallhack only with the help of the adminwallhack. But even with that u can not be sure of the cases in 99 %. For example I saw a game of HQ in FFA on DM17, where he have ironed nubs with an Acc >60 in 57 seconds with a fraglimit of 50. Or nevertheless, u must say then if u have a look at the videos of hard, "this must be autoshoot". Just the same there also with visitors from other Mods who no one knows here which have excellent target qualities.

Therefore, my proposition, first think then make a demo, then post, however, if possible into a collecting-thread, since these collecting-threads are read by admins actually. Thus one can delimit also the whole cheater paranoia just the same with the possible curiosity of normal players.

Ah, I almost forgot that. I cooperate with the anticheatprogramm "punkbuster" very closely on servers on which I am admin. Before all if I suspect somebody because of "autoshoot" or "wallhack". Good, we know, that there are cheats that are not recognized by PB yet, however the majority of the cheater, does not know that. If you want to work also more closely with PB, here my tip, how u switch PB pb on and off, without restarting the server.

1. "rcon pb_sv_enable"
Now PB is switched on, and needs approx. 30-45 seconds in order to check the players
2. "rcon pb_sv_disable"
PB is still enabled, and in a normal way you would have to restart the server now to disable
3. "rcon pb_sv_restart"
PB is now off , without restarting the server.
