Hello!

Everyone welcome to get some fun with portals

The goal is easy - try to complete maps. To complete map everyone who is in game must reach the finish so don't forget to help to your opponents. Who first will complete all 10 maps - he will get a cake!

Top ten times are saved. You can use "/motd" command to check them for current map.

You can /callvote map_restart to restart current map, /callvote "rotate restart" to restart the game and go to first map, or /callvote map <mapname> to load any other map (but better complete portal maps in right sequence). There are also some defrag maps on server.

Portal maps: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/85790592/q3/testrooms.pk3 You can just download maps and play, but portals will be without image.

Clientside:

To get portals with images you should use modified executable. Download quake3p_cl.rar, extrect to your q3 folder and launch xp_portal_multiplayer.bat. Then connect to portal server as usual.

Some tips:

/r_fastsky 0 , /r_noportals 0 , /r_vertexlight 0 (thx Ali) to make portals renderable
/r_picmip 0 , /r_gamma 1 - it looks better
bind MOUSE1 "weapon 8; wait 10; +attack; -attack"
bind MOUSE2 "weapon 9; wait 10; +attack; -attack"
r_numportals 3..9 (default 6) - number of portals to be rendered. If you have fps drops, then decrease this value.

Serverside:

It works only with e+2.1 version!

Download and install e+ v2.1 - http://www.excessiveplus.net/forums/thread/excessive-plus-v2-1
Download quake3p_sv.rar and extract it to your q3 folder
Launch xp_portal_dedicated.bat to start server.

I don't suggest you to use this executable for client. Use it with dedicated 1 or 2 setting and client version for play.

PS. Who have previous version of some files - remove/replace them.

so many things done with the quake engine makes you realize even today how powerful it is.

I will be setting a time on that sever soon

Tested and approuved!
But i ve some report.

For some room (testromm2) when you must active 3 interrupts to open the door, you must be 3. (or we don't find the solution)
The begining are not so easy, just to understand game mechanics, i past arround 20 min to understand
Lights on maps are reaaly too extrem value. i got some high gamma value, and on 1st start, outch my eyes, i was thinking that i was in paradis
This ! This is a fucking addict! When you understand mechanics, you become addict.

BTW, this is a great job, really great job, may be when it will be the final version ( imean after all ppl report bugs/suggestions) it will be nice to have a sefl executable of it (Ask me, i ll be glad to help you). Honestly E+, Install it, really!

Yes, it's for multiplayer. Some maps (almost) impossible to complete alone.

Maybe it's hard for beginners. But i think that if you connect, you have heard about original portal game. Some maps also require some movement skills.
