Esc > Setup > System > Graphics > Texture Filter: bilinear/trilinear ?
Or any of those graphics options.

If you are closer to a curve it seems to be more smooth than it appears from a long distance. The 1st screenshot was made from a shorter distance and the 2nd - from a longer distance. The game engine (or your VGA's driver) fits (simplifies or complicates) image depending on distance. There is no need to adjust your config.
