Heya.

Few years ago I bought my notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit included and I made a backup windows recovery copy right after they recommended me this move. The point is I lost my discs, got absolutely no idea where they are located at.

I need to format my disc and because I got no windows recovery copy I can't do that. I've got some viruses and they're killing me, notebook is running like a snail on the oil track. The worst of them seems to be conduit search that's spying on any data on my discs and can not be deleted without a format.

As I got original cd-key on the bottom of my notebook can I just download Windows 7 HP 64-bit from the torrents and during the installation use my original key instead of pirated one's? Is this move technically legal? I don't want to get into any troubles because of that.

I know I should've ask Microsoft directly but because it's not me who has originally installed the windows but Asus their help would cost me and to contact Asus is a very complicated and long process so I thought I will ask here in the 1st place and if I get no direct response I will contact Asus in the 2nd place.

Thank you for help.

yes and no, technically you are allowed to use the cdkey to reinstall - no problem.
Practically you would need a asus Version of win7 for it to work.
Anyways, you always can try to get a complete home download from microsoft, as far as I remember they offer something like that under special circumstance, but I guess you can google urself.

Asus version may contains drivers. Everyone is allowed to copy disc as backup for yourself, all you have to do is: be sure this is Windows 7 Home Premium edition and you have drivers for your hardware at USB ;]

And even I walk through the darkest valley of the shadow of death I will be not afraid because I am the worst motherfucker in this place.

khaz you can download pure original image from microsoft and your key will work - they always share newest relase. asus also should share some image with drivers. It is legal and it will work. Next time do recovery partition with all drivers and important programs D: recovery with system right after installation is sensless... its same like new installation.

Of course this is legal! I have used a Windows 7 key from a public computer to buy Windows 8 Pro x64 for 15 euros. I made my own copy of Windows 8 by downloading a clean ISO online.

Be smart and never ever say that information in public you have something pirated. You never know when it'll work against you.
