Hi,

Does anyone is running Quake 3 Arena and E+ on Windows 8 x64?
I have encountered many problem since I moved from Windows 7 x64.

- First, the network while playing Quake 3/Quake Live is disconnecting every ten seconds and I have to do a net_restart to keep playing. This error doesn't appear anymore with the last update of Windows 8.

- The sensitivity is completely fucked up! There is something like accel or I don't know what but my sens' is totally different from the one I used. I patch with MarkC and its a bit better, but it's like if the mouse is lagging. I don't know how to solve it.

I'm still searching an answer but if anyone found a solution, please post an answer here to help every players who moved to Windows 8.
Thank you.

Configuration screen -> Hardware -> mouse -> options for pointer -> "mark precision of pointer" off, maybe helps and if not try hax Tongue

I used to try RC version (forgot how it is called now), didn't noticed problems you called. For sensitivity try /in_mouse <value (f.e. '-1')>, /in_restart.

@ Jeff : I did it in the control panel, not in this shitty settings panel settings.

@ Gabber : I use in_mouse -1 to use raw input.

@ SP : How you wrote today at 9:30pm whereas you was playing on the "HOLY FUCKING NOVEMBER FRAGFEST RUMBLE"?

By the way, what does \in_logitechbug ?

  1. You must run pbsvc.exe to check everything.
  2. Then you need to go in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 if you have 64bit or C:\Windows\System32 if you have 32bit.
  3. There you will find PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe
  4. Right click, properties, compatibility and at the bottom CHANGE SETTINGS FOR ALL USERS.
  5. Check Run as an administrator.
  6. same for both files.
  7. Restart.
Worked for me. Hope it helps.
