You should better use the bans.txt. banIPs is very limited.
The next version has allready an automatic ban system for the bans.txt like:
/rcon ban 3
/rcon ban name

Took me a while to figure it out but I think I have it working.

/rcon ban name
will ban the name, guid and ip.
But you can also use:
/rcon banip id/name/ip
/rcon banguid id/name/guid
/rcon banname id/name
In all cases you don't have to lookup with /rcon status.
