oki, thx, i think the serveradmin of EN can write such a script hopefully, if he can, and if he want, EN will share this script.

Ore use a sheduler and set it to restart the server on a new port
every 4 houer.

If my servers stayed visible on the spider for four hours i would be satisfied.
If it gets last in the Q3-browser servelist... Trifle...

changing of ports it's good method, not so many servers use that..
every time when u change port ur server is NEW
so is in top of list, few secs after changing of port ur servers are filled with noobs which using integrated q3 server searcher, and coz there are people - server is full for long time
i've utility which checking if anyone is on server every 20 minutes, if no, server is restarted with RANDOM port...
after few secs server is full again..
u can easily see that in practice
servers which have big uptime are empty, servers with lowest uptime are full
sure ..now everyone will use that..
logic of this is
u dont need to be in top of list when u have people on server..
u wanna be in top coz u wanna have people on server..
if no just tell friends static data ip:port..
this is tested and really working..
ring0 servers using this
i developed this technic from watching differents between full and empty servers :}
maybe i can share that application
but it isnt so user friendly like u want it sure :}
and its only for unix based systems

eh all fps games running on udp (over internet) which is best for this coz is fastest, there isnt other choice, so shut up about udp before u read sth

Quake 4 will more than likely be as crap as Doom 3 for online multi-play, so i wouldn't look forward to it too much....

Thanks for all your insites on this issue. I have since moved away from Excessive to Insta_rail full time. * Amarillo Pain *. Still have the problem but, I am using my original fix. UDP is a sloppy protocol anyway. UT2004 server running strong without any UDP B.S. ...and heck...who cares...Quake 4 is around the corner!
