I think the subject is incorrect against map authors and server owners who had earlier put that maps into rotation. Prepending map- to the file name produces another version of the same map. Having been downloaded it will interfere with the original map file which a player may have downloaded from the game server. I hope that the excessiveplus does not pretend to be the only maps source in the Internet and will keep maps with their original file names.

Hi,

how comes ?

The majority of people think they think, when really they just change their prejudices. Understanding is a matter of will in most cases.

Actually, the engine does not care about names.
As long as the checksum matches it will not force to download the same package with a different name.

We introduced the "consistent" name convention long time ago, as we noticed that the available archives around the internet offered one and the same map/pack with many different names. I mean, some did not even include the name of the map.

Also, being an FTP archive (not being able to provide additional information except the name), this made browsing and finding the right map very comfortable.
